AA Media Privacy Policy

Our policy is to fully respect your privacy with regard to any information that we may collect during our operations.

Site visitors

Like most website operators we collect some non-personally-identifiable information, like the kind that servers and web browsers usually make available, including browser type, referring site, language preference, and the time and date of each visit.

Our purpose in gathering this type of information is to help us better understand how visitors use our services. From time to time we may release some non-personally-identifiable information in an aggregate form, for example, by publishing a report on trends in the usage of the site.

We also collect some personally-identifiable data including Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for users who log in as returning members, or leave comments on our sites or blogs, or who enter contests or promotions, as well as personal contact and lifestyle information for users who request insurance quotes.

AA Media only discloses such information under the same circumstances when we would use or disclose personally-identifiable information as detailed below, although blog comments from IP addresses, email addresses, and user-sharing characteristics are visible and disclosed to administrators of any related blogs and sites.

Collecting personally-identifiable information

Some visitors to the Sites choose to interact with us and/or request insurance quotes, which requires us to gather personally-identifiable data. Visitors may refuse to supply personally-identifiable data, although doing so will prevent them from using the full capability of the Sites.

The type and amount of information that we collect depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, if you post comments on our blog you’ll be asked to sign up for a user name and account, and if you request a quote we’ll ask you to provide your full name and contact information, and some basic lifestyle questions such as whether you smoke cigarettes or use tobacco in any form.

Visitors who purchase insurance or engage in any other financial transactions after requesting quotes through our Sites should be aware that insurance agencies and other service providers have their own privacy policies.

In any case, we gather only the information which is necessary and appropriate to fulfill your interaction with us. We do not disclose your personally-identifiable information except as described in this Privacy Policy.

Aggregated statistics

We may gather statistics about the behaviors of visitors to our sites, including commenting, social sharing and voting. Such information is not disclosed, except as noted in this Privacy Policy.

Protection of personally-identifiable information

We disclose personally-identifiable information only to our contractors, employees, partners, lead-buyers, advertisers and affiliates which (1) need to know the information in order to handle it on our behalf or to offer the insurance quote services available through our Sites, and (2) which have agreed not to disclose the information to others.

Some of our contractors, employees, partners, lead-buyers, advertisers and affiliates may be physically located outside the US. By using the Sites you agree to the transfer of your information to these parties.

Other than the circumstances described above, we disclose personally-identifiable information only as a response to a court order, subpoena or other governmental request, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or property, or the rights of third parties or the public in general.

If you’ve inquired about an insurance quote through our Site, or commented or interacted with us through our Site, we may occasionally contact you with news or offers, or to ask for your input and feedback.

We take measures which are reasonably necessary to help protect you against unauthorized access, and the use, alteration or destruction of your personally-identifiable information.

Cookies

Cookies are small strings of information which sites can store on a visitor’s computer that help the visitor’s browser. Our Sites use cookies to help identify and track visitors, and gather statistics about how they use the Sites, as well as access preferences.

If you don’t want cookies you should set your browser to refuse all cookies before using our Sites. The drawback is that certain features of our Sites may not function correctly without cookies.

Ads

Ads that appear on our Sites may be delivered by selected advertising partners or affiliates, who may set their own cookie policies. This Privacy Policy envisions the use of cookies by AA Media, and doesn’t cover the use of cookies by advertisers, affiliates, lead-buyers or partners.

Business transfers

If AA Media, or a substantial part of its assets were acquired, or if we went out of business, then user data and quote-inquiry information might be one of the assets acquired by or transferred to a third party. By using our Site you acknowledge and agree that such a transfer may occur, and any acquirer of your information may continue to use it as set forth in this Privacy Policy.

Posts, comments, sharing and voting

Blog posts and comments, contest entries, votes and any other informational content submitted to us or to social network sites on our behalf shall become the proprietary content of AA Media.

Changes in Privacy Policy

In our sole discretion we may change this Privacy Policy from time to time, although most changes are minor. By continuing to use the Site after any change in this Privacy Policy, you accept and agree to such changes.
